Questions & answers

Frequently asked questions.

Straight answers on what Coursed does, how it connects to your POS, what it reads and never changes, security, and how pricing and the pilot work.

The product

What is Coursed?

Coursed is a live service scoreboard for restaurants. It reads your POS order activity and turns it into a real-time view of every table, scored on a six-step service ladder — so managers can spot service gaps, recover slipping tables, and coach from the actual shift.

Which POS does Coursed work with?

Coursed connects to Toast today, with more POS integrations on the way. When you apply for a pilot we ask which POS you use, so we can tell you exactly where you stand and — if we're not on your system yet — add you to the waitlist for it.

Do my servers have to do anything differently?

No. Coursed reads what your team already rings in. There's nothing to install on your terminals and no new steps for staff mid-shift.

Can I run it on more than one screen?

Yes. Run a live board on the pass for the team and a manager view in the back for reports, history, and coaching. A view-only floor screen is available too.

Connecting your POS

How does the connection work?

A read-only connection through your POS's standard API, set up with our team on a short onboarding call — about 30 minutes, most of it on the call. You never touch a config file.

What does Coursed read?

Open and closed orders for the current business date, line items and modifiers, guest counts and check totals, and menu, table, and employee reference data to label the board with real names.

What does Coursed never do?

It never changes a ticket, price, or menu; never touches payments or card data; adds no workflow for servers; and can be revoked at any time from your own POS account.

How long does setup take?

Usually live on your floor the same afternoon. Onboarding is white-glove and takes about 30 minutes.

Security & data

Do you touch payments or card data?

No. Coursed does not process, transmit, or store payment or cardholder data. It reads order activity — items, timing, guest counts, check totals — not payment instruments.

Where is my data stored, and is it secure?

Your API credentials are encrypted at rest and sessions are signed. Coursed stores the computed service board and rolled-up reporting so you can look back across shifts. We don't sell your data or share it with third parties.

Can I revoke access?

Yes — at any time, from your own POS account. The connection is read-only and fully under your control.

Pricing & pilot

How much does Coursed cost?

Coursed Pro is $199–$249 per location per month, billed monthly; your exact rate is confirmed at onboarding based on location count and volume. Multi-location groups get custom pricing. See full pricing →

Are the live board and Pace alerts included?

Yes. The live service board and Pace service-gap alerts are both part of Coursed Pro at no extra charge — not add-ons.

Do I need a credit card to start?

No. You apply for a pilot and connect your POS with our team first. You only subscribe after your 30-day pilot, if Coursed earns its place on your pass.

What are the pilot terms?

A 30-day, no-card trial on your own service data. Pilot terms are separate from subscription pricing, and the pilot does not promise specific results — it lets you judge Coursed on your real service before you commit.

About

Who built Coursed?

Coursed was built by restaurant operators and runs daily on their own restaurants. Every feature earned its place on a real service before it shipped.
